Important: About these figures

The four exits above are illustrative, selected examples from Platinum Cask's realised track record of 50+ whole cask exits through our Cask Fractions platform since 2018. They are not averages and are not representative of every cask. Individual realised returns have ranged from approximately 5% to 292% across hold periods of roughly 1 to 5+ years. The full outcome distribution, including lower-performing exits, is published inside the 2026 Investor Pack.

Return figures are stated gross of Platinum Cask exit fees and any applicable sale costs. Net return to the client will be lower depending on the exit route taken. All exit fees are published in the Investor Pack and the cask purchase agreement.

The Platinum Cask Fractions platform allows clients to buy a fraction of a whole cask from £20. The figures shown represent the realised return on the whole cask as an asset. Fraction holders receive their proportional share of the cask's realised exit value. The same underlying cask performance applies whether you purchase the whole cask or a fraction of one.

Past performance is not indicative of future returns. Value can go down as well as up. Individual results vary by cask, distillery, age, hold period, and market conditions at time of exit. Whisky cask investments carry risk and are unregulated in the UK.

Why Platinum Cask

Not just a brokerage. The full ecosystem.

Platinum Cask operates under Fah Mai Holdings Limited. We trade, store, audit, auction, bottle, and distribute whisky. That infrastructure is what makes structured exit routes possible.

Bulk purchasing power

We buy in bulk across our trading divisions. That volume gives us access to cask inventory and pricing that smaller brokers can't match.

Full exit infrastructure

Whisky Bull Auctions, independent bottling, global import/distribution, plus a 100,000+ buyer network. When you want to sell, we have multiple routes ready.

Transparent, published fees

Storage £50/year. Minimum hold 3 years. All exit fees published. No hidden markups. What you see is what you pay, before you commit a penny.

Warehouse account in your own name

Your cask is held in an account opened in your name with the HMRC-bonded warehouse operator, not held by Platinum Cask on your behalf. You are the legal owner and the warehouse's named customer, with a transferable ownership certificate to match.

Realised exits, not projections

50+ cask exits realised through our Cask Fractions platform since 2018. Not paper gains, not indicative valuations. Actual sales at actual prices. The full ROI report is inside the Investor Pack.

HMRC Tax Treatment

A whisky cask is generally treated as a 'wasting asset' under HMRC guidelines.

Because wooden casks naturally evaporate a small percentage of their contents each year (the 'angel's share'), HMRC guidance generally classifies them as wasting assets with a predictable life under 50 years. As such, profits from selling a whole cask may not be subject to Capital Gains Tax.

This can be a meaningful structural advantage compared with many other alternative investments. UK Duty and VAT only become relevant if the cask is bottled and removed from bond.

Tax treatment depends on your individual circumstances and may change. HMRC has not issued product-specific clearance and each case turns on its facts. Platinum Cask does not provide tax advice. Please consult a qualified tax adviser regarding your specific situation.

Important Information

Risk Warning: Whisky cask investments are unregulated in the UK. The value of investments is variable and can go down as well as up. Past performance is not indicative of future results and does not give a guide for the future. You should not invest more than you can afford to lose. Platinum Cask does not provide financial advice. Please seek independent financial advice before making any investment decision.

Fees: Storage and insurance is charged at £50 per cask per year (minimum 3-year hold). Exit fees vary by route and are fully disclosed in the Investor Pack and purchase agreement. If you choose to bottle your cask, UK Duty and VAT become payable at the point of removal from bond. The volume of spirit in a cask decreases over time due to evaporation (the 'Angel's Share'). New make spirit must mature for a minimum of 3 years at 40% ABV or above to be legally classed as 'whisky'.

Cancellation: You have the right to cancel your purchase. Please refer to the full terms and conditions for details of the cancellation process and any associated costs.

Realising Your Investment: Exit routes include buy-back by Platinum Cask / Fah Mai Holdings, sale at auction via Whisky Bull Auctions, sale to a bottler or blender, or private sale via our member network. Each route has associated fees and conditions. Platinum Cask can facilitate sales but cannot guarantee a specific buyer or price. Full details are provided in the Investor Pack and the cask purchase agreement.
